CentreMondial de la Paix, des Libertés et des Droits de l´Homme, Verdun
In Verdun a group of youths deals with the Jewish history of Verdun. Before the Shoa there was a small Jewish community in the city. Today the marks of this part of history are lost, only the synagogue is an evident sign of the past. The group will develop a city guide about the Jewish history of Verdun, which will be used for the pedagogical work of the Centre Mondial de la Paix. The first meeting of the European groups takes place in Verdun in July 2011.
Polish-German Centre in Krakow
In cooperation with the Pedagogical University of Krakow the Polish-German centre in Krakow will resume questions from the exhibition project „The Jews in Poland“. Students of the Pedagogical University research the local and regional Jewish history in and around Krakow. The Polish-German centre organizes in cooperation with the International Youth Meeting Centre in Auschwitz the second European meeting in Krakow and Auschwitz in November 2011.
The Goethe-Institute in Lisbon
The Goethe-Institute and the Uiniversity in Lisbon will research on significant aspects of Jewish-Portuguese history.
Students from the Potsdam University deal with the Jewish history of Brandenburg and Berlin. Biographies of members of the former Jewish community in Potsdam, of important persons of education in Berlin during the 1920s and cultural persons of the 1950s and 1960s are the basis for the research field. Over the portrayal of these biographies the project will demonstrate the relations between the Jewish and Christian communities as well as the impact of Jewish people on the German culture and society before and after the Shoa.
The third and final meeting of the groups take place in Potsdam and Berlin in February 2012.
